Designing an effective website
Keep the focus of your site on your
customers. Understand what they would like to know and include that on the site.
They probably want to know more about
your company: your production facilities, products you deal in, main
strengths of your company, your competencies, the kind of customers
you presently have, your philosophy on quality, deliveries and other
things that matter in your business. Identify what matters to your
customers and design your site to project the identified
competencies.
An effective website is one that
generates interest of your customer in your company. If you can
build a good first impression even before making a personal contact,
you would start the process of developing a new customer on a very
strong footing.
The information you decide to include in your
website should sound convincing. It is no good to make statements like: We
are committed to providing quality products to our customers as per the
agreed time schedule. Anyone can make statements like these. In fact every
site we read includes lofty statements such as these. Such statements must
be backed by examples that demonstrate your claims. For example, quality can
be demonstrated by showcasing long standing relationships with customers who
demand stringent levels of quality; or by showing how your QC department is
organized. Similarly, your ability to deliver as committed can be
demonstrated by tabulating data of last 20 shipments made against
contractual commitments. These are only a few illustrative examples.
We can help you design a new website or
redesign an existing website to make it more effective.
